The motion carr~e 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Latimer, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />C <br />15. Council considered the recommendation of Joerns and Hodge <br />concerning an amended Industrial Sewer User Charge. Joerns <br />reviewed the report for Council, explaining the basis of the <br />recommendation, the assumptions and a suggested formula. <br />The proposed surcharge formula for the City of La Porte was <br />.76 per 1000 gal. rate with a $4,879 surcharge per year. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Faris to approve the <br />recommended Industrial Sewer User C arge. Secon y Council- <br />person Simons. T e motion Carrie ayes, 0 nays and 1 <br />abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Latimer, <br />Simons, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Gay <br />16. Council considered authorizing the purchase of 12 Sure SM~11 <br />Mini Cavalier microphones in the amount of $1,450.00 for the <br />Council table. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Longley to approve the pur- <br />chase of the microphones. Second y Councilperson Skelton. <br />Faris: Mr. Mayor, I'd like to point out that that is $1,450.00 <br />of the citizens' money. I think if we all lean forward we <br />could take care of that without spending the money. <br />Mayor Meza called for a vote. The motion was defeated, 3 ayes <br />and 5 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Longley, Gay, Skelton <br />Nays: Councilpersons Malone, Faris, Latimer, Simons and <br />Westergren <br />• <br />G_~: Mr. Mayor, the reason why I voted on this is because <br />I've got so much flack and complaints from the citizens.
