• <br />Stuart Haynswort~ <br />ATTOPNEY AT LAW <br />1700 COMMERCE BUILDING <br />• HOUSTO N, TEXAS 77002 <br />713 / 652- 6136 <br /> <br />December 31, 1981 <br />Office of the City Secretary <br />City Hall <br />604 West J Street <br />La Porte, Texas 77571 <br />Attention: Mrs. Betty Waters <br />Re: Application for rezoning of 18.3434 acres <br />Gentlemen: <br />This is being submitted to request the rezoning of a tract <br />of land containing 18.3434 acres in the City of La Porte from <br />commercial to light industrial classification. <br />The tract of land commences for its northwest corner at a <br />point 420 feet south of the north line of the McKinstry Survey <br />on the west side of the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way; <br />thence N 86° 59' 35" E approximately 915.29 feet to a point on <br />the western boundary of 16th Street for its northeastern corner; <br />• thence south along the western boundary of said 16th Street ap- <br />proximately 936 feet to its intersection with the northern bound- <br />ary of a .818.8-acre easement approximately 140 feet south from <br />the northern boundary of formerly dedicated Block 1238 for the <br />southeastern corner of said tract; thence South 86° 59' 35" West <br />approximately 592 feet to the eastern boundary of the G. B. Mc- <br />Kinstry Survey; thence N 02° 23' 35" W approximately 336 feet <br />to a point on the northern boundary of formerly dedicated West <br />R Street, marking the northeast corner of a 2.50-acre Humble <br />Drill Site; thence S 63° 05' 09" W approximately 349.68 feet to <br />a point on the eastern perimeter of the Southern Pacific Railroad <br />right-of-way; thence north along said SPRR right-of-way N 02° 58' <br />09" W approximately 857.90 feet to the Place of Beginning. <br />Rezoning is being requested in order to make the land more <br />saleable, and of course any development would be subject to City <br />of La Porte permits. The land will be used for materials ware- <br />housing, container storage, railroad and truck line shipments <br />and receipts . <br />A plat plan is enclosed, same being a partial copy of the <br />survey prepared by John T. Burleson Land Surveying Company, a <br />duly licensed public surveyor. Also accompanying this request <br />are copies of deeds vesting title in the applicant. <br />A~ <br />
