• <br />C~ <br />SUGGESTED PROCEDURES FOR RENOVATING A SWIMMING POOL UTILIZING FIBERGLASS AS THE <br />• RENOVATIVE MEDIUM. <br />Quality assurance: <br />A. Qualification of Contractor: Contractor shall: <br />1. Have a minimum of five (5) years experience in the application of fiber- <br />glass surfacing to swimming pools. <br />2. Have a minimum of five (5) large swimming pools (regulation A.A.U. short <br />or long course) that have been fiberglass surfaced by the contractor, <br />and which have been in operation with the fiberglass lining/surfacing <br />for a period of time not less than five (5) years. <br />B. Qualification of workmen: <br />1. Contractor shall use only qualified and thoroughly trained and experi- <br />enced craftsmen, completely familiar with the materials and methods <br />specified. <br />2. Contractor shall personally supervise work or shall provide a competent <br />person acceptable to owner who shall be present at all times during <br />execution of work and who shall be thoroughly trained and experienced <br />in materials and methods specified. <br />Products: <br />• Materials: <br />A. Chopped glass fibers for reinforcement of the fiberglass mixture shall <br />be of a diameter and length appropriate for the application and as <br />manufactured by Potters Industries, PPG, Owens or~equal. <br />B. Resin, pastes, additives, primers and top coats shall be of the type <br />specifically formulated and developed for use in swimming pools, such <br />as "Selection from PPG", or equal in quality. <br />Standards: <br />A. Applied fiberglass surface shall be capable of withstanding temperatures <br />as low as Oo Fahrenheit, have a tensile strength of 14,000 psi, and <br />flexural strength of not less than 23,000 psi. <br />B. Mixture of fiberglass shall be based on a glass to resin ration of 28.2 <br />~ percent with an application thickness of not less than one-eighth (1/8") <br />inch throughout the entire pool surface. <br />C. Caulking: Shall be an approved poly-sulfide, thiokol or comparable <br />product and be compatible with existing expansion joint materials and <br />fi7aerglass materials to be used. <br />D.
