• <br />• <br />r ~a <br />~, <br /> <br />1.0 PRUTEC'r SLTNII"lARY <br />Bayshore Cormunity Development, Inc., (BCDI), a not for profit, conmu- <br />nity based-organization proposes to i~lement a Transportation Services Pro- <br />ject in the City of La Porte for $24,698, of which $10,000 funding support <br />is being requested from the City of La Porte. Services will be geared to <br />transporting primarily elderly, handicapped, and low-income residents to <br />medical facilities, social service agencies (entitlement program) pharmzceu- <br />tical entities, once-a-week shopping and selected enrichment and cultural <br />activities. Transportation services will be provided to a monthly rider- <br />ship of 800 persons on a scheduled, subscribed demand response basis, pick- <br />ing up elegible residents from their homes, transporting them to scheduled <br />appointments and/or activities and returning them to their residences. <br />Residents must call in a 24-hour lead time basis. <br />This Project represents a continuation of services previously funded <br />through a one-time Special Initiative Grant awarded by the Coitatrounity <br />Services Administration. BCDI is also exploring the expansion of transpor- <br />tation service with other political subdivisions in the Bayshore Area. <br />/~ - <br />
