Box 1115 <br />LaPorte, Texas 77571 <br />Re: Statement of Intent to Change Rates Filed <br />by Amoco Gas Company on July 13, 1983 <br />Sir: <br />On July 13, 1983, Amoco Gas Company filed with the City of <br />LaPorte a Statement of Intent to Change Rates charged to Air <br />Products and Chemicals, Inc. under an existing contract for sale <br />of natural gas. It is my understanding that, by statute, the new <br />rate will automatically go into effect after a 35-day period of <br />suspension, i.e., August 17, 1983. <br />• In order to facilitate the change of suppliers at our <br />chemical facility and simplify the arrangements required to <br />secure sufficient natural gas to maintain plant operations <br />during the month of August, it would be preferable to initiate <br />service under our amended Gas Contract with Amoco starting <br />August 1, 1983. Therefore, Air Products and Chemicals hereby <br />requests that City Council act to waive the 35-day waiting period <br />and permit the new rate to go into effect on August 1, 1983. <br />In support of this request, I have enclosed a copy of an <br />Affidavit dated July 6, 1983 that sets forth in detail our <br />position concerning this issue. <br />I appreciate your attention in this matter. <br />Very truly yours, <br />r <br />Kenneth E.
