These achievements were made possible because of financial assistance provided
by your city and the 195 other municipalities that contributed to our effort.
• Participating cities collectively contributed $62,b48, of which $61,541 was paid
out in attorney's fees for direct lobbying in Washington, and $1,107 was ex-
pended on mailings and other administrative items. Based on the record, these
funds obviously were well spent.
At this juncture, it is necessary for us to request that your city provide addi-
tional financial support to Cities For Responsible Cable Policy. Our nominal
expenditures to date have yielded substantial results, but S. 66 and H.R. 4103 ti
are still very much alive, and it will take considerable money and on-site work
in Washington by our coalition lobbyists in order to prevent the passage of
tt-ese bills.
Your city's financial assistance is urgently, and immediately, needed. I,le are
requesting contributions according to the following schedule:
City Population Contribution
Less than 1,000 $150
1,000 to 4,999 250•
5,000 to 9,999 ~ 500
10,000 to 25,000 750
Over 25,000 1~` per capita, minimum of $750
Without the active financial support of Texas cities, chances are that we will
lose everything to the national cable lobby. With your help, we stand a chance
of preventing the cable industry from taking away all of our CATV regulatory
powers.
• Please use the enclosed form to advise us whether your city can participate.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
