<br />4. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br />,A <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />''''--...- <br /> <br />r:=;:.-: <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />. <br /> <br />HARRIS COUNTY MAYORSt AND' COUNCILS' ASSOCIATION <br />, <br /> <br />Ma rc h 1 5, 1 984 <br /> <br />The regular monthly dinner meeting of the Harris County Mayors' and Councils' <br />Association was held at Stouffers Hotel 'on March 15, 1984 at 6:30 p.m. A total <br />of 39 membe~s were in attendance, including guests and spouses of the Mayors <br />and Councils. <br /> <br />Mayor Alvin Baggett gave the invocation. Mayor Blasingame 'introduced the members <br />and guests ,present in the absence of Mayor Berryhill. Dorothy Davison reported <br />that the Harris County Community Development Agency would hold a public hearing <br />to obtain citizen input and project proposals for the FY 1984 at the H-GAC Annex <br />on Tuesday, March,27, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Blasingame then gave the Treasurer's <br />Report stating that the Association had a lBance in their checking account of <br />$10,660.91. One correction was requested in the minutes of the previous meeting <br />(change name from Fuller to Hogan). The minutes were then approved as amended. <br /> <br />, Councilman Roy Fuller introduced the guest speaker, Don Sykora, President of <br />Houston Lighting & Power Company, who spoke on "Mechanics Involved in Request <br />for a Rate Increasell. A brief question and answer period followed Mr. Sykora's <br />presentation. <br /> <br />Councilman Fuller reported that the speaker for the April meeting would be Rep. <br />Jack Fields and the speaker for the May meeting would be Louie Welch. Mayor <br />Heinrich stated that she appreciated what HL&P had done, especially in light <br />of Hurricane Alicia. Additionally, HL&P had worked'very closely with them in <br />the City of Webster in selecting a location for a sub-station~ <br /> <br />Mayor Bartlett offered a Resolution to be considered at the next meeting. The <br />Resolution was requesting that the legislature amend the particular act which <br />states that cities that. have two or more banking institutions doing business <br />within the city shall receive and consider applications to become a depository <br />of said municipality only from such banks within the city. (Copy of Resolution <br />~ttached and marked Exhibit lIall)~ Mayor Heinrich requested that the meeting <br />notice along with the resolution be sent as early as possible so the mayors and <br />councils would have time to consider the resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Heinrich reported that the Nominations Committee was composed of Mayor' <br />Baggett of Galena Park, Councilman Wilbanks of Bay town and Councilman Lusk of <br />Jacinto City and they would give a report at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Heinrich wished everyone success in their campaign.
