Regulations On Operations. <br />(a) The committee is hereby authorized to promulgate any <br />and all rules and regulations relating to the operation of towing <br /> <br />vehicle and auto wreckers, insofar as such rules and regulations are <br /> <br />not inconsistent with any of the provi sions of this chapter, 'deemed <br /> <br />necessary to protect public safety and welfa.re. <br /> <br />Specifically, but <br /> <br />without limitation, the committee is here~ authorized to promulgate <br /> <br />any rules relating to restrictions on the number of auto wreckers <br /> <br />which may operate on the streets of the City of La Porte at anyone <br /> <br />time. The committee shall cause the City Secretary to serve copies <br /> <br />of such rules on owners at their registered addresses by certified <br /> <br />mail. Such notices shall fully set out any rules promulgated, and <br /> <br />the effective dates thereof. <br /> <br />Any pennit holders shall have the right, in accordance with <br /> <br />the provisions of section 6-10, to appeal to the City Council with <br /> <br />regard to any rules and restrictions promulgated by the committee <br /> <br />felt ~ such permit holder to be unduly onerous. <br /> <br />Sec. 6-18. Procedure by Auto Wrecker Operators at Scene of <br />Disabled Vehicle. <br /> <br />(a) Whenever an auto wreCker arrives at the place where a motor <br /> <br />vehicle has been disabled by an accident, the auto wrecker driver <br /> <br />shall legally park his vehicle as close to the street curb as possible <br /> <br />and otherwise dispose of it in such a manner as not to interfere with <br /> <br />traffic.. He shall not park his vehicle wi thin a distance of fifty <br /> <br />(50) feet from a wrecked or disabled vehicle. <br /> <br />(b) It shall be unlawful for any wrecker owner, driver or <br /> <br />agent to solicit the business of towing, removing or repairing any <br /> <br />wreCked or disabled vehicle at the place where an accident has occurr- <br /> <br />ed, by words, cards, circulars or gestures. <br /> <br />(c) All auto wrecker drivers arriving at the place where any <br /> <br />accident has occurred shall qbey all orders given them by any police <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />C/~ <br />
