Fairmont Plaza Shopping Center Page Two Based on that meeting and several phone conversations with the developer and Knox Askins, I have devised the following scheme for completion of the proposed work and method for considering the City's participation. (1) Locate (developers responsibility) and inspect the section of waterline already installed for general conformance to the approved plans and specifications. (2) Review invoices and price quotations submitted by the developers contractor. Compare these prices to the City's cost for same materials. (3) If the above comparison is favorable, recommend to Council City participation in the oversizing from 8" to 12" (material cost only). (4) Submit to City Council for approval. (5) Require completion of all waterlines as per utility extension agreement and approved plans and specifications. (6) Final inspection, approval and submittal of record drawings. • • The above strategy is subject to slight modification pending the outcome of the field investigation and inspections of previously completed work. Attached is a breakdown of the contractors costs/quotes for various 8" and 12" diameter materials, as well as the City's costs/quotes for the same materials. Although comparable, the contractors costs are approximately $416.81 higher than the City's estimated costs. Obviously, this project has not proceeded according to the provision of our standard extension agreement. However, based on the spirit of cooperation exhibited by the developer and the cost information provided, I recommend that Council authorize $3,455.69 for participation in the installation of oversizing (materials only) of approximately 640 ft. of waterline.
