I ~'~ ~p , Page 2 <br />is consistent in promoting the health, safety, and welfare of the <br />citizens of the City of La Porte to designate maximum speeds upon the <br />streets and highways of the City of La Porte based upon the results <br />of said engineering and traffic investigation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT <br />ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />SECTION 1. Upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investi- <br />gation heretofore made as authorized by the provisions of Article <br />6701d, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, the following maximum speed <br />limits hereafter indicated for vehicles are hereby determined and <br />declared to be reasonable and prudent; and such speed limits are hereby <br />fixed as the maximum rates of speed indicated for vehicles traveling <br />upon the named streets and highways, or parts thereof, described as <br />follows, and any speed in excess of the limits specified and during <br />the time set out shall be prima facie evidence that the speed is not <br />reasonable and prudent and that it is unlawful, and that the Code of <br />Ordinances, City of La Porte, Harris County, Texas, Chapter 25, <br />Traffic, Article 2, Section 25-23, and Section 25-24 are hereby <br />amended to read as set forth in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and <br />fully incorporated by reference herein for all purposes. <br />Section 2. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites <br />and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, <br />place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at <br />a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for <br />the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by <br />the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes <br />Annotated; and that this meeting has been open to the public as <br />required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the <br />subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally <br />acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms <br />such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. <br />
