Waters <br /> <br />Department: Citv Council <br /> <br />Report <br /> <br />Resolution <br /> <br />x <br /> <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />Exhibits: <br /> <br />Ordinance 1559 <br /> <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The attached amended "Animals and Fowl" ordinance (Section 5.0 of <br />the City's Code of Ordinances) was presented as a workshop item <br />during the City Council meeting held on August 24, 1987. At that <br />time, Councilperson Betty Waters moved to place the ordinance as <br />an agenda item on September 14, 1987, for City Council action. <br /> <br />Adoption of this ordinance would amend the following areas: <br /> <br />Section S-S, "Fees" - Current animal fees would be increased to <br />meet rising operational and maintenance expenditures; <br /> <br />Section 5-~8, "Restriction on Number of Dogs and Cats in Proximity <br />to Residence of Another" - This is a new section, and restricts <br />the number of animals per household to a total of three (3) <br />animals (dogs, cats, or a combination); <br /> <br />Section S-52, "Abandonment of Animals Prohibited" - This is also a <br />new section, and prohibits the abandonment of animals in the City <br />of La Porte; and <br /> <br />Article VII, "Kennels and Pet Establishments" - This is a new <br />article, and establishes the regulations and fees for kennels and <br />pet establishments. <br /> <br />The ordinance also includes a penalty clause, which provides that <br />anyone found in violation of this ordinance will be deemed guilty <br />of a misdemeanor and upon conviction will be fined a sum not to <br />exceed two hundred ($200) dollars. <br /> <br />Action Required by Council: <br /> <br />Adoption of Ordinance 1559 <br /> <br />Availability of Funds: NIA <br /> <br />General Fund <br />Capital Improvement <br />Other <br /> <br />Water/Wastewater <br />General Revenue Sharing <br /> <br />Account Number: <br /> <br />Funds Available: <br /> <br />YES <br /> <br />NO <br /> <br />ADproved for City Council Agenda <br /> <br />cXJ~ -r; ~ <br /> <br />Robert T.
