<br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-13 <br />A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS <br />EXPRESSING SUPPORT AND ENDORSEMENT OF THE BOND ELECTION FOR <br />HARRIS COUNTY, THE HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT, AND THE <br />PORT OF HOUSTON AUTHORITY OF HARRIS COUNTY, TO BE HELD NOVEMBER <br />3, 1987 . <br />WHEREAS, Harris County voters have approved bond issues in <br />1973, 1975, 1979 and 1982 totaling over one billion dollars to <br />keep abreast of the massive population growth which has strained <br />our county roads, parks, and public service facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, it is recognized that large capital outlays are <br />needed to continue an orderly program of capital improvements in <br />the areas of transportation, flood control and commerce; and <br />WHEREAS, the Harris County Commissioners Court has called a <br />Harris County Bond Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, <br />1987, to authorize $635 million in bond funds submitted under <br />seven propositions, to wit: <br />FLOOD CONTROL $250 Million <br />ROAD IMPROVEMENTS 255 Million <br />PARKS DEVELOPMENT 13 Million <br />COURTHOUSE PARKING & SERVICE FACILITIES 5 Million <br />ANNEX COURTHOUSES & BRANCHES 8.5 Million <br />LIBRARY FACILITIES 3.5 Million <br />PORT OF HOUSTON IMPROVEMENTS 100 Million <br />WHEREAS, civic and political leaders, community groups, and <br />concerned citizens will be involved in the planning and <br />completion of these vitally needed improvements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS <br />THAT said Council hereby endorses all propositions for <br />Harris County capital improvements listed on the November 3, <br />1987, ballot; <br />And be it further resolved that we urge all registered <br />voters in Harris County to exercise their constitutional rights <br />to vote in this very important election on November 3, 1987. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this the 28th day of September, 1987. <br />CITY OF LA PORTS <br />Norman L.
