ORDINANCE NO. S r <br />AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING CERTAIN ALLEYS, AND PORTIONS OF <br />CERTAIN STREETS, IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte has been requested by the <br />record owner of all of the property abutting the hereinafter described streets <br />and alleys, in the City of La Porte, to vacate, abandon and permanently close the <br />hereinafter described streets and alleys; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte has determined and does <br />hereby find, determine and declare that the hereinafter described portions of <br />said streets and alleys are not suitable, needed or beneficial to the public as <br />public roads or streets, and that the closing of the hereinafter described <br />streets and alleys is for the protection of the public and for the public <br />interest and benefit, and that the hereinafter described portions of said streets <br />and alleys should be vacated abandoned and permanently closed; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAPORTE: <br />Section 1. Under and by virture of the power granted to the City of La <br />Porte under its Home Rule Charter and Chapter 13, Title 28, Article 1175, of the <br />Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, 1925, the hereinafter described <br />alleys, and the hereinafter described portions of streets, are hereby permanently <br />vacated, abandoned and closed by the City of La Porte, to -wit: <br />TRACT I: <br />That portion of North 6th Street in the City of LaPorte, lying and being situated <br />between Outlot 6 and Outlot 7, NEBRASKA SYNDICATE SUBDIVISION, in the Johnson <br />Hunter Survey, A-35, LaPorte, Harris County, Texas, being 60' in width, and <br />extending from the South right-of-way line of North "H" Street, crossing the 60' <br />right-of-way of North "G" Street, to the extended South property line of Lot 14, <br />Block 7-B, NEBRASKA SYNDICATE SUBDIVISION, and being a tract of land 60' in width <br />and 790' in length, and containing 47,400 square feet. <br />TRACT II: <br />All of the alley in Block 7-C, NEBRASKA SYNDICATE SUBDIVISION, LaPorte, Harris <br />County, Texas, being a tract of land 16' in width and 400' in length, and <br />containing 6,400 square feet. <br />TRACT III: <br />That portion of the right-of-way of North "G" Street, being 60' in width, and <br />lying and being situated between Block 7-C, NEBRASKA SYNDICATE SUBDIVISION, <br />LaPorte, Harris County, Texas, and Block 7-B, NEBRASKA SYNDICATE SUBDIVISION, <br />LaPorte, Harris County, Texas, and between the East right-of-way line of North <br />6th Street and the West right-of-way .line of North 5th Street in the City of <br />LaPorte, and being a tract of land 60' in width and 266' in length, and <br />containing 15,960 square feet. <br />TRACT IV: <br />All of the alley in Block 7-B, NEBRASKA SYNDICATE SUBDIVISION, LaPorte, Harris <br />County, Texas, being a tract of land 16' in width and 380' in length, and <br />containing 6,080 square feet. <br />
