Development <br /> <br />x Report <br /> <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />Exhibits: 1) <br />2) <br /> <br />Transmittal letter from Planning & Zoning Commission <br />Staff's Report as presented to Planning & Zoning on <br />August 25, 1988 <br /> <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />McDonald's Corporation is requesting that the City's Zoning <br />Ordinance be amended to change the allowable height of <br />freestanding, on premise advertising signs, located in G.C. zones <br />from forty five (45') to seventy five (75') feet. <br /> <br />Commercial Use Table "B" of Section 10-1000, Ordinance 1501 <br />restr~cts the height'of on premise freestanding advertising signs <br />(in both N.C. and G.C. zones) to forty five feet (45') as measured <br />from adjacent grade~ This corresponds with the maximum allowable <br />height for all other types of structures located in Neighborhood <br />Commercial (N.C.) and General Commercial (G.C.) zones.' <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The Pl'ilnning & Zoning Commission recommends an amendment to <br />the interim sign regulations to include a "Controlled Access <br />Highway Zone" for signs. The Commission recommends further that a <br />maximum height of sixty five feet (65') be considered and a width <br />of five hundred feet (500') along and parallel to each side of the <br />controlled access highway, as shown on the City of La Porte <br />Thoroughfare Plan, be considered as the limits of the Controlled <br />Access Highway Zone. <br /> <br />The Commission recommends the controlled access highway zone <br />to be added to the City of La Porte Land Use Map. <br /> <br />Action Required by Council: <br /> <br />1) Approve the request. <br />2) Deny the request. <br />3) Table the decision and continue the discussion at a <br />later meeting. <br /> <br />Availability of Funds: <br /> <br />General Fund <br />Capital Improvement <br />Other <br /> <br />Water/Wastewater <br />General Revenue Sharing <br /> <br />Account Number: <br /> <br />Funds Avail~ble: <br /> <br />YES <br /> <br />NO <br /> <br />Approved for City Council Agenda <br /> <br />~J~ T;.~ <br /> <br />Ro ert T.
