CITY OF LA PORTE <br />INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />MARCH 1, 1989 <br />TO: Charles Smith, Chief of Police <br />FROM: Louis Rigby, Purchasing Manager ' <br />SUBJECT: Sealed Bid #0309 - 3/4 Ton Humane Truck <br />Advertised, sealed bids #0309 for a 3/4 ton humane truck were <br />opened and read on February 21, 1989. Bid requests were mailed to <br />eight (8) area dealers with the following six (6) returning bids: <br />1) Les Marks Chevrolet, 2) Timmers Chevrolet, 3) Tramonte <br />(submitted two bids: one Dodge, one Chevrolet), 4) Knapp <br />Chevrolet, 5) Joe Camp Ford, and 6) Chuck Miller Ford. <br />Low bid of $19,674.02 was submitted by Les Marks Chevrolet. <br />However, specifications called for a 4-speed automatic <br />transmission and Chevrolet only offers a 3-speed automatic in that <br />size vehicle. Joe Camp was low bid meeting the 4-speed <br />specifications but they did not meet alternator and tire <br />specifications. Joe Camps bid was $20,495.00. Also, Chevrolet <br />offers a 3-year, 50,000 mile warranty whereas Ford offers 12 <br />months, 12,000 miles. <br />Please submit your recommendation with an agenda request form <br />by the prescribed time before the next regular council meeting. <br />If there is a need to delay bringing this before council, please <br />notify me. <br />LR/gr <br />Attachments: Bid Tabulations <br />xc: John Joerns, w/ attachments <br />
