The proposed construction was identified in <br />the City's Wastewater Master Plan to provide relief from overloaded sewer <br />conditions on the east side of La Porte. The Project will be constructed <br />utilizing futldS from the 1990 Bond Fi~tnd. <br />Bids were received from eight (8) prequalified construction firms, with <br />low bid received from E.P. Brady Inc. in the amount of one million five <br />hundred eighty four thousand one hundred thirty eight dollars and seventy <br />five cents ($1,584,138.75). The Engineer's estimate for this project is <br />one million four hundred forty thousand eight hundred eighty two dollars <br />($1,440,882.00), or one hundred forty three thousand two hundred fifty six <br />dollars and seventy five cents ($143,256.75) less than the lowest bid. <br />In order to reduce the overall cost of the project to an amount closer to <br />the Engineer's estimate, the City, Engineer and contractor met to discuss <br />possible cost-saving measures, without compromising ttie quality of the <br />project. Those measures identified and agreed upon by all parties are <br />incorporated in Change Order No. 1, and represent a total reduction of <br />eighty eight thousand eight hundred forty tl~tree dollars and seventy five <br />cents ($88,843.50) over the original bid, for a revised contract amount of <br />one million four hundred nirtety five thousand two Yturtdred ninety five <br />dollars and twenty five cents ($1,495,295.25). <br />Action Required by Council: Approve ordinance authorizing the contract and <br />Change Order No. 1 with E.P.
