• REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM Agenda Date Requested: February 10, 1992 Requested By: John Joerns Department: Administration Report Resolution XXX Ordinance Exhibits: Ordinance No. 1812 Street Closing Application February 6, 1992 letter from Knox Askins to Larry Dowden, Jr. SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION Anthony Crane Rental of Texas, Inc. has made application with the City to close, vacate and abandon the North 17th Street right-of-way between blocks 653 and 654, Town of La Porte. The City Secretary has contacted all franchised utility companies and City departments requesting review and comment. All comments have been received and there were no objections to the proposed closing. The adjacent property owners have submitted their letters of consent and hold harmless statements. The Harris County Appraisal District appraised value of the property is 5.25 per square foot. The total fair market value determined for this closing is 59,000 which per the ordinance, is derived in the following manner. • 24,000 sq. ft. X 5.25 per sq. ft. X 1.5 = 59,000 The ordinance closing, vacating and abandoning the street has been prepared and the applicant has been notified of the following provisions which need to be met prior to delivering a certified copy of the ordinance. • Applicant must furnish to the City a hold harmless letter by an official of Anthony Crane Rental of Texas, Inc. • Evidence of title from adjacent owners which have given consent to the closure. • Evidence of title from Anthony Crane Rental of Texas, Inc. showing ownership of Lots 17 through 32, Block 654, Town of La Porte. • A cashiers check for 59,000.00 payable to the City of La Porte. Action Required by Council: Staff recommends the closing, vacating and abandoning of the North 17th Street right-of-way between Blocks 653 and 654, Town of La Porte by passing Ordinance 1812. The motion should state that the provisions noted above must be met prior to delivering a certified copy of the ordinance.
