Herrera, City Manager <br /> <br /> <br />Stan Sherwood, Director of Parks and Recreatio$ <br /> <br /> <br />La Porte Recreation/Fitness/Senior Citizens Center Fee <br /> <br />Ordinance Justification <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />As a result of concerns expressed by members of our City Council at the March 9, 1992 Council <br />meeting, staff has prepared the following information regarding those concerns. <br /> <br />I. SENIOR CITIZENS FEE PLAN: <br /> <br />Area residents 60 years or older and/or their spouses who participates in Senior <br />Services scheduled physical fitness and water exercise classes would not be <br />required to purchase a membership plan for the facility. <br /> <br />However, senior citizens utilizing the facility outside the parameters of Senior <br />Services programming areas and times would be required to purchase a <br />membership plan of their choice at the proposed senior citizen discount of 50%. <br /> <br />II. ANNUAL ENROllMENT FEES: <br /> <br />We are proposing a $10.00 enrollment fee each time the member buyslrenews <br />his/her plan. This is to help offset the following enrollment package that each <br />member will receive. <br /> <br />A. The paper work to process the membership the plan <br />B. Photo J.D. <br />C. Reminder of expiration of membership sent to members a month before <br />expiration date <br />D. Quarterly newsletter <br />E. Special Guest - Example: Nurse checking blood pressure <br />F. Update members medical history once a year in computer file <br />
