Joerns Report Department: Administration Resolution X Ordinance Exhibits: Ordinance Application for street closing Map of location SUMMARY , RECOMMENDATION Mr. John Andre of Blue Flash Express, Inc., and Mr. Robert Reichert, have made j oint application to close 17th street between Blocks 1141 and 1142. The City Secretary has contacted all franchised utility companies and City departments requesting review and comment. All comments have been recei ved. There were no objections to the proposed closing if the owners would agree to accept the ownership and maintenance of existing drainage swale in the former right-of-way of South 17th Street. The Harris County Appraisal District appraised value of the property in question is $.40 per square foot. The total fair market value for this closing is $14,400.00, which per the ordinance, is derived in the following manner: 24,000 sq. ft. x $.40 per sq. ft. x 1.5 = $14,400 The ordinance closing, vacating and abandoning the street has been prepared and the applicants have been notified of the following provisions which need to be met prior to delivering a certified copy of the ordinance. Property owners accepting ownership and maintenance of the existing drainage swale in the former right-of-way of South 17th Street. (Included in Ordinance.) A check in the amount of $7,200 from each of the property owners has been received. Action Required bv Council: Staff recommends the closing, vacating and abandoning of 17th Street between Blocks 1141 and 1142 by adopting the attached ordinance.
