Area Map <br />On May 8, 1995, Council approved a policy for provision of potable water service to companies <br />outside the corporate city limits that have current Industrial District Agreements with the City. In <br />addition, the proposed Water Service Agreement that was presented, received approval as to form. <br />The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Bayport Chemical Plant, wishes to pursue water service <br />under the terms and conditions offered by the City. Based on 110 employees, the average monthly <br />demand will be 167,750 gallons, for which Goodyear Tire and Rubber will pay one and one-half (1'�► <br />times the City's current rate. <br />The term of the Water Service Agreement is for five (5) years, plus any renewals and extensions <br />thereof. However, the Agreement shall automatically expire at such time as there is no effective <br />Industrial District Agreement between the parties or if the City exercises the right of termination. <br />Based on 110 employees, Goodyear Tire and Rubber shall be subject to an administrative connection <br />charge in the amount of $11,000. <br />Goodyear Tire and Rubber will tie onto a main that will be installed by Rohm and Haas (Utility Extension <br />Agreement previously approved by Council). Per this agreement, Goodyear will also pay a pro rata fee <br />to City based on the actual construction cost of the waterline. City will then reimburse Rohm and Haas <br />per the terms of our Utility Extension Agreement. A copy of the Water Service Agreement is included <br />for Council's review. <br />Staff recommends approval of the Water Service Agreement submitted. <br />Action Required by Councill: <br />Consider approval of an ordinance authorizing the City to enter into a Water Service Agreement with <br />Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Bayport Chemical Plant. <br />Availability of Funds: <br />General Fund _ Water/Wastewater <br />Capital Improvement _ General Revenue Sharing <br />Other <br />Account Number: Funds Available: YES NO <br />Robert <br />City M <br />DATE <br />
