Bid requests were mailed to ten (10) <br />vendors with eight (8) returning bids. <br />Low bid meeting specifications was submitted by Houston Freightliner in the <br />amount of $86,249.00. <br />Staff recommends award of bid for rear loader/refuse truck to Houston <br />Freightliner, low bidder meeting specifications in the amount of $86,249. <br />Funds in the amount of $85,000 were budgeted in the 1996/97 Solid Waste <br />Division Operating Budget. The low bid is $1,249.00 more than the budgeted <br />amount. The budgeted amount was arrived at using the best available <br />information at the time of budget preparation. This unit is necessary to <br />implement the additional garbage crew approved in the 96/97 Solid Waste <br />Operating Budget.
