UE#FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA C1 <br />Agenda Date Requested: March 24, 1997 <br />Requested By: Louis Rigby Department: Administrative Services <br />Report Resolution Ordinance <br />On March 10, 1997, the City received proposals to design and install a Wide Area Network <br />(WAN). The WAN will connect the current and future personal computers (PC) in five <br />geographically separated locations: City Hall, Public Works, Police Station, Fire Station, and <br />Parks & Recreation. It will also attach the City's new main frame computer to a portion of the <br />PC's which share the financial and administrative applications. <br />Eighteen RFP's were mailed and we received five proposals. Vendors were evaluated on the <br />following criteria: <br />Experience with configuring major WANs <br />Financial stability of the provider <br />Cost of services <br />References <br />Telephone support <br />The Accord Group, the City's computer consultant, has reviewed the proposals and found that <br />BIZCOMP, located in Houston, submitted the proposal which best meets the City's needs.
