" ;" <br />AND OPERATE TRAFFIC oS'lGNALS WITHIN THEIR CORPORATE UMITS TO CITIES WITH A POPULATION OF <br />100,000 OR GREA TER. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />97-09 <br /> <br />-- -...-.. <br /> <br />* * * * <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the current state policy regarding the installation, maintenance, and operation of traffic <br />signals on the state highway ~ystem in incorporated cities of less than 50,000 population calls for Texas <br />Depanment of Tramportation (TxDoT) to be re.\ponsible .for .\'uch duties when requested by the city council, <br />mayor, or city manager,' and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such policy forces moderately sized cities to face exponential leaps in the quantity of traffic <br />signals they will have to assume responsibility for maintaining and operating; and <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by City Council that it is more appropriate for TxDoT to own, <br />:.9perate, and maintain trqflic signals and associated devices on roadway facilities within the corporate city <br />limit.\' until such city reaches a population of 100,000 or more when cities will have enough resources to <br />handle such an increase in re,\pOlLfjibility; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the costs associated with said tra/l.~'fer will be a large burden OIL such cities; now, therc:fore <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE.
