® • <br />TI~FIC ]FIUNIP STATISTICS <br />POLICY COMPARISON <br />City of Houston -Requires traffic study - 85`h percentile speed must meet or exceed 35 <br />mph. This was changed from 30 mph in October 1998. <br />City of Pasadena -Requires traffic study - 85`h percentile must meet or exceed 35 mph. <br />City of Deer Park -Requires traffic study - 85`h percentile must meet or exceed 5 mph <br />over~osted or prima facie speed limit. Note -speed limits on residential streets 20 mph. <br />If 85 percentile less than 25 mph, it may be installed if funded by residents. <br />Baytown -Original policy required 85`h percentile of 35 mph for city to fund. If less <br />than 35 mph, it may be installed if funded by residents. Moratorium put in place January <br />1, 1997. City hired traffic engineer (in-house) to develop comprehensive Traffic Calming <br />Policy, which includes traffic humps as an option. To be considered for the Program, the <br />85`h percentile must meet or exceed 10 mph over the posted speed limit. For a typical <br />residential street, the 85~' percentile must be a minimum of 40 mph. <br />
