AreaMap <br /> <br />Budgeted Item: _YES ...x..NO <br /> <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMlENDATION <br /> <br />Mr. Nazar Momin (owner of Lots 1-12 and 19-32, Block 337, Town of La Porte) has submitted an application to the <br />City to vacate, abandon and close the entire alley in Block 337, Town of La Porte. The purpose of his request is to <br />consolidate his property to create a contiguous tract of land to facilitate future development Mr. Momin has procured <br />Letters of Consent from the additional property owners of the block; Angelo Cucco (Lots 13-16) and EBC, Inc. (Lots <br />17 & 18). <br /> <br />In reviewing the closing request, Staff has detennined that existing water, electricity, gas, telephone and cable facilities <br />located within the alley must be either maintained in place, relocated and/or abandoned The applicant has coordinated <br />with each of the City's fmnchised utility companies (i.e. Reliant Energy, Southwestern Bell & Time-Warner <br />Communications) for the relocation of existing electrical, telephone and cable facilities from the nortbermnost 300' of <br />the alley while maintaining current utility service to the remaining property owners by retaining a 16' utility easement <br />along the southernmost 100' of the alley. The City's Public Works Department has detennined that the City's existing <br />waterline can be cut, plugged and abandoned from the northenunost 300' of the alley without affecting additional <br />services north of the block. <br /> <br />In accordance with Ordinance No. 98-2225, Staff has arranged for an independent appraisal to be conducted for the <br />rights-of-way in question.
