This bid was for electric golf cars with a thirty-six month warranty. Club Car Inc. was the low bid meeting specifications for the amount of $118,425.00. On June 24, 2002, sealed bids #0861 for electric golf cars with a forty-eight (48) month warranty were opened. Bid requests were mailed to three (3) venders with two (2) returning bids. The two (2) bids are from E-Z GO Textron and Club Car, Inc. The low bid meeting specifications is E-Z GO Textron for an amount $117,300.00 (after trade-in allowance). Although E-Z-Go Textron's bid on the proposed alternate of the 2002 model is lower than for the 2003 models, this alternate is for used golf cars that have been in service for a minimum of six (6) months. Due to results of the re -bid, City staff received a letter from Club Car, Inc. protesting the recommended award of Bid #0861 — Electric Golf Cars Re -Bid to E-Z-Go Textron. City Attorney, Knox Askins, has reviewed the bid specifications and supporting documents, in addition to the protest letter. He confirms this bid satisfies legal requirements as submitted. The attached memorandum from Assistant City Manager John Joerns indicates that award of this bid is necessary to protect the substantial interests of the City. Action Required by Council: Staff recommends awarding bid #0861 for 75 Electric Golf Cars to E-Z GO Textron for the amount of $211,050.00, less $93,750.00 trade in for a total of $117,300.00.
