i •
REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
Agenda Date Requested: Mav 10.2004
Requested By: Cynthia Alexander
Department: Finance
Report: Resolution: Ordinance:
Exhibits:
Exhibits:
Exhibits
Appropriation
Source of Funds: General CIP Fund &
Transportation Fund
Account Number: multiple
Amount Budgeted:
Amount Requested: $860,000.00
Budgeted Item: YES NO
SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION
A budget amendment of $660,000 is requested for the General CIP Fund for the acquisition of 9.14 acres
of land for the police site. $300,000 of the funds for this amendment is available from the Transportation
and Other Infrastructure Fund. The remaining $360,000 will be funded with fund balance from the
General CIP Fund.
A reimbursing resolution has been passed for this project.
Additionally, a budget amendment for $200,000 is requested for the General CIP Fund for the
environmental remediation of the firing range facility. Council authorized the City Attorney's office to
move forward with retaining GTI Environmental to finish clean up at the Police Training Facility (Firing
Range). Estimate is $175;000 to $200,000. This is not a budgeted item and therefore requires a budget
amendment. The funding for this project is available from the Transportation and Other Infrastructure
Fund.
Money has been built up in the Transportation and Other Infrastructure Fund for infrastructure needs
within the City. We propose that $300,000 of these funds be allocated to the General CIP Fund for the
acquisition of land for the police site and $200,000 of these funds be allocated to the General CIP Fund
for the environmental remediation of the firing range facility.
(Total increase required from Fund 005 - $500,000)
(Total increase required from Fund 015 - $360,000)
Action Required by Council:
Consider approval of authorizing a budget amendment to the General CIP Fund O15 for the acquisition of
land for the police site and to complete environmental remediation of the firing range facility and
appropriate funding from the Transportation and Other Infrastructure Fund 005.
Approved for City Council Agenda
~ ~v
ebra Feazelle, City Manage Date
