<br />r~. <br /> <br />~ <br />. <br />. <br />,. <br />, <br />.. <br />,. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION <br />OPPOSING CHANGES TO SALES TAX LAW TIlAT PROMOTE <br />POINT-OF-DESTINATION SALES TAX SOURCING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, many cities provide services through the collection of sales taxes; and <br /> <br />.... <br />-- <br />'!ff' <br /> <br />, , <br />WHEREAS, sales taxes make up substantial portions of most cities' general operating budget; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, current sales tax sourcing operates in a point-of-origin nature; and <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />WHEREAS, philosophy shifts in the Streamlined Sales Tax Project have changed from point-of- <br />origin to point-of-destination sales tax sourcing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, changes in sales tax sourcing to point-of-destination would result in detrimental <br />losses to many cities' revenues; and <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Comptroller is currently studying the impact of the sourcing change on <br />local governments; <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />NOW, TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the delegates assembled at this 2004 Annual <br />Conference of the Texas Municipal League that the League oppose any change to sales tax <br />sourcing that promotes point-of-destination. <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the membership of the Texas Municipal League this 29th day of <br />October, 2004, at Corpus Christi, Texas. <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />Terry Henley <br />President <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />=- <br /> <br />Frank Sturzl <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />
