<br />The Online News Station <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br />Gulf Coast E-news <br /> <br />A Publication of Guichy News Service <br /> <br />September 27, 2004 <br /> <br />Harris County Precinct Two Economic Summit <br /> <br />The Second Annual Harris County Precinct 2 Economic Summit will be held from 7:30 <br />a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 15 in the student center baUroom at San Jacinto <br />college Central at 8060 Spencer Highway in Pasadena. About 300 participants are <br />expected to attend. <br /> <br />Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia, the Bay Area Houston <br />Economic Partnership, the Bay town/West Chambers Economic Development <br />Foundation, the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region and the San Jacinto College <br />District are hosts of the summit. <br /> <br />Garcia will speak on the topic "Paving the Plan for Smart Growth." <br /> <br />liThe demographics are quickly changing in Precinct Two and we must begin to plan for <br />these changes," Garcia said. "This summit will provide all Precinct Two stakeholders a <br />venue to share opportunities and challenges we are facing as they pertain to economic <br />development. " <br /> <br />The summit's keynote speaker is Dr. Timothy Hopper, senior economist for the Federal <br />Reserve Bank of Dallas. His topic is "Returning To Growth." <br /> <br />Dr. Bill Lindemann, San Jacinto College chancellor, and Dr. Ken Black, University of <br />Houston/Clear Lake professor of decision sciences, will share the stage - focusing on <br />the area's demographics in relation to education. A question and answer session will <br />follow. <br /> <br />The summit is free of charge.
