Barr, Director of Par <br /> <br /> <br />March 21, 2006 <br /> <br />To: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />Through: John Joems, Assistant City <br /> <br />Meeting Summary, Possible Park <br />Zone 5 Park <br /> <br />Yesterday afternoon Mayor Porter, Councilman Moser, and I met with representatives of the Spencer <br />Landing Homeowner's Association regarding the upcoming play equipment purchase for a proposed <br />Park Zone 5 Park. The following is a summary of the discussions th!took place. <br /> <br />Items Discussed ~~ ~ <br />. Discussion of possible joint venture SPARK parllon roperty owned by the LPISD at <br />the intersection of Sens Road and "0" Street. - IX <br />. Further discussion of possible joint venture with SLHOA to install play equipment on <br />property owned by SLHOA, equipment to be maintained by the City of La Porte. <br />. No decision reached on above possibilities, pending further information from LPISD <br />and City of La Porte (see below). <br />· Discussed possible temporary parking at LPISD SPARK park, will not be considered <br />due to high cost. <br />. Discussed repair of existing sidewalk along portion of "0" Street, and extension to <br />proposed SPARK park. <br />. Discussed possible culvert sizing and possible retention of water along "0" Street <br />ditches if SPARK park is chosen. <br />· Discussed possible dirt work; topographic survey of property to determine what, if any <br />work would be needed for the SPARK park. <br />· Discussed higher cost of play equipment from last year's purchase of similar <br />equipment. <br />· Proposal to go ahead and submit the purchase of play equipment to City Council for <br />consideration, to be placed at either of the above locations after a decision is made. <br />· Discussed deferring purchase and installation of play equipment at Pete Gilliam Park <br />until survey of usage or additional information can be evaluated or, the possibility of <br />using funds earmarked for Pete Gilliam Park in this fiscal year, for improvements to <br />SPARK park project (these funds would not be available for use in the property owned <br />by SLHOA). This information to be presented to City Council for consideration as a part <br />of the playground purchase item. On Monday, March 27th. <br /> <br />Information Requested <br />· SLHOA would like to see the site overlay showing available space for the proposed <br />SPARK park as soon as it is available from LPISD. <br /> <br />Page1of2 <br />
