City Council Regular Meeting, Workshop Meeting and Public Hearing -September 11, 2006 Page 8 Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2837-C-AN ORDINANCE AMENDING APPENDIX A - FEES, CHAPTER 74, "UTILITIES", SECTIONS 74-246 AND 74-276, OF CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY AMENDING THE FEES ESTABLISHED THEREIN TO READ AS PROVIDED HEREIN; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Council member Beasley to approve the Ordinance 2837-C- as presented by Mr. Dolby. Second by Council member Rigby. The motion carried Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Ebow, Clausen, Griffiths and Mayor. Nays: None Abstain: None 18. Council to consider approval or other action regarding a resolution adopting the 2006-2007 appraisal roll of the Harris County Appraisal District. Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: Resolution 20-19 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE 2006 APPRAISAL DISTRICT. Motion was made by Council member Moser to approve the Resolution 20-19- as presented by Mr. Dolby. Second by Council member Griffiths. The motion carried Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Ebow, Clausen, Griffiths and Mayor. Nays: None Abstain: None 19. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance estl1blishing the tax rate for Fiscal Year 2006-07 at .71 cents per hundred dollar valuation. Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2919-AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES UPON TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO TAXATION IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE, AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF SAID CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING THAT ALL REQUIRED NOTICES HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED AND ALL REQUIRED HEARINGS HELD; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Council member Engelken to approve the Ordinance 2919- as presented by Mr. Dolby. Second by Council member Ebow. The motion carried Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Ebow, Clausen, Griffiths and Mayor.
