<br />officio director serves a term concurrent with the member's term as <br />a member of the governing body. <br />(f) In a district for which the governing body of the <br />municipality does not serve as the district's board of directors, <br />the governing body may create a board of directors for which one <br />director is appointed by each member of the governing body to serve <br />at the pleasure of that member for a term not to exceed two years and <br />that expires when the member of the governing body that appointed <br />the dir ector leaves off ice. <br />Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. I, eff. June I, 200l. <br />Sec. 344.102. PERFORMANCE BOND. (a) Before assuming the <br />duties of the office, each director or officer must execute a bond <br />for $5,000 payable to the district, conditioned on the faithful <br />performance of the person's duties as director or officer. <br />(b) The bond shall be kept in the permanent records of the <br />district. <br />(c) The board may pay for the bonds of directors or officers <br />with distr ict funds. <br />(d) The board and the district may issue and sell bonds <br />conditioned on the faithful performance of a person's duties as a <br />director as provided by this section. <br />Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. I, eff. June I, 200l. <br />Sec. 344.103. OFFICERS. (a) The board shall elect from <br />among its members a president and vice president. <br />(b) The board shall appoint a secretary. The secretary may <br />be a director. <br />(c) The person who performs the duties of auditor for the <br />municipality shall serve as treasurer of the distr ict. <br />(d) Each officer of the board serves for a term of one year. <br />(e) A vacancy in a board office shall be filled by the board <br />for the unexpired term. <br />Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. I, eff. June I, 200l. <br />Sec. 344.104. COMPENSATION. A director or officer serves <br />without compensation, but a director or officer may be reimbursed <br />for actual expenses incurred in the performance of official duties. <br />Those expenses must be reported in the district's minute book or <br />other district record and must be approved by the board. <br />Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. I, eff. June I, 200l. <br />Sec. 344.105. VOTING REQUIREMENT. A concurrence of a <br />majority of the members of the board is necessary in matters <br />relating to the business of a district. June I, 200l. <br />Sec. 344.106. CONTRACT FOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE. The <br />board may contract with a public agency or pr ivate vendor to assist <br />the board in the administration or management of the district or to <br />assist the board in the review of applications for funding <br />available under this chapter. <br />Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1295, Sec. I, eff. June I, 200l. <br />SUBCHAPTER D. POWERS AND DUTIES <br />Sec. 344.151. FINANCING DISTRICT PROGRAMS. (a) The <br />district may finance all costs of a fire control, prevention, and <br />emergency medical services district program, including costs for <br />personnel, administration, expansion, enhancement, and capital <br />expenditures. <br />(b) The program may include: <br />(1) fire apparatus and equipment; <br />(2) a bomb disposal unit and related equipment; <br />(3) compensation of fire protection and prevention <br />personnel for specialized training regarding: <br />(A) arson; <br />(B) bomb disposal; <br />(C) hazardous materials; <br />(D) technical rescue; <br />(E) paramedic certification; and <br />(F) any other specialized training under the <br /> <br />program; <br /> <br />(4) funding for turn-out gear, self-contained <br />breathing apparatus, and protective uniforms or other firefighter <br />safety equipment; <br />(5) additional compensation for municipal <br />fire-fighting personnel, including overtime compensation for <br />unforeseen staffing needs; and <br />(6) funding for the construction and maintenance of <br /> <br />4 <br />
