. The attendance at this park could be expected to increase dramatically. When the spray pad and
water toys were introduced at San Jacinto Pool, the swim season pool attendance rose from
approximately 1,500 patrons, to over 10,000 this past swim season. This does not take into
account the extended season. These facilities are very popular with both children and their
parents.
. Although swim lessons have been offered at Brookglen for the past several years, there has not
been enough interest in the neighborhood to warrant lessons being taught there. Swim Lessons
have been consolidated City-wide, and offered at the Fairmont Pool. The deep pool at San
Jacinto and the deep end of the zero-depth Northwest Pool could serve as suitable alternatives,
if future swim lesson sites were contemplated.
. The plan for the bathhouse roof includes a covered area with tables built into the support bases
on the west side ofthe bathhouse. This area would be close enough to the new spray ground to
support birthday parties and other special events during the summer months for residents, at
no charge. Staff recommends replacing the roof if alternative funding can be found for the spray
ground.
. Finally, the restrooms, either with a roof, or without, would be available year-round for use by
the public.

If there are questions or further information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Stephen Barr, Director

Parks & Recreation Department

Attachments
