<br />k lot z ~~. ass 0 cia t e s <br /> <br />SECTION 4 <br /> <br />IDENTIFIED DRAINAGE AND FLOOD CONTROL REMEDIES <br /> <br />4.1 Approach <br /> <br />Remedies for addressing identified drainage and flooding problems incorporated <br />improvements identified directly as a consequence of the modeling and analysis methods <br />discussed in Section 3 of this CWDS report, review of prior drainage studies for the City <br />and abstraction of recommended drainage improvements from those studies that are <br />appropriate to the problems identified in this study, and inclusion of some term remedies <br />identified and described in Letter Report No.1. <br /> <br />4.2 Identified Types of Remedies for Existing Conditions <br /> <br />Within the limits of information available for the development of the CWDS, identified <br />drainage and flood control problems fall into three broad categories: Problems arising <br />from flooding of primary or main tributary channels, as evidenced by estimated out-of- <br />bank conditions; significant numbers of reports (of different types, as shown on Table 2- <br />2) on flooding when nearby out-of-bank conditions do not occur or a channel is at <br />considerable distance from the problem area; or various reports, site inspection, and <br />review of topographic information indicates a condition conducive to or arising from <br />significant localized ponding because lack of drainage pathways. <br /> <br />4.2.1 Remedies for Insufficient Channel Capacity <br /> <br />Primary or major tributary channel flooding was concluded to be the primary flooding <br />problem source when either delineated floodplains more or less encompassed the <br />drainage problem area or the existing channel in the vicinity of the problem area did not <br />have the capacity to convey the design discharge.
