CITY OF LA PORTE <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br />FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non -Exempt PAY RANGE: 029 <br />DEFINITION <br />Responsible for directing, coordinating, and administering economic development <br />efforts, including targeting new development efforts, such as new business, retaining <br />and expanding existing businesses, facilitating programs to enhance economic <br />development and job growth, and serving as liaison between prospects and the City. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives direction from the City Manager's Office. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. <br />ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS <br />Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />Develops and executes programs to generate prospect leads, which result in the location of new <br />businesses; facilitates the expansion of existing businesses. <br />Creates and makes presentations to business prospects throughout the Houston region and <br />locations outside of Texas. <br />Conducts targeted sales calls and follow up communications with business prospects throughout <br />the Houston region and locations outside Texas. <br />Develops and maintains relationships with commercial real estate brokers, site selection <br />consultants, business prospects and other business development officials. <br />Coordinates with business prospects and their representatives to collect project data; screen and <br />qualify prospects, conduct site tours of La Porte, draft performance/incentive proposals, and <br />conduct project follow up communications and visits to prospects. <br />Creates and maintains business retention expansion program for La Porte. <br />Provides technical and professional advice and information on economic development issues, <br />programs, services, and plans. <br />Develops and implements marketing plans to ensure a professional image for the City of La Porte <br />to attract targeted businesses to La Porte. <br />Serves as a liaison to Bayshore-La Porte Chamber of Commerce — Economic Development <br />Committee <br />Conduct overnight travel as necessary to meet with business prospects, participate in marketing <br />events and meetings in and outside of the Texas area. <br />Prepares reports, including charts and graphs, and presents recommendations for action plans to <br />management. <br />Perform other related duties as assigned. <br />
