In addition} TXP helped create an incentive <br />program to foster the development of the project. <br /> <br />Economic Development Strategic Planning Services <br />City of Grapevine} Texas <br />The Grapevine City Council hired TXP to identify and analyze the most important economic <br />development trends shaping the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Based on these findings} TXP worked with <br />Grapevine's City Council to create a series of public policy strategies and recommendations to guide the <br />city's economic and community development efforts. <br /> <br />The Role of the Cultural Sector in the Austin Economy <br />The City of Austin} Texas <br />There is a growing understanding of the connection between the arts and the economy, although <br />there have been relatively few attempts to fully capture the connection between culture} creativity} and <br />economic activity. TXP addressed portions of this phenomenon in previous work} including measuring <br />the economic impact of music in 2001, not-for-profit arts groups in 2003} film in 2004, and gaming/ <br />digital media earlier this year. TXP was retained by the City of Austin to more fully define the influence <br />of the cultural sector (defined to include music, film/visual media, not-for-profit arts, visual arts, and <br />tourism related to the arts) on the local economy, as well as further extend the analysis to better capture <br />the local connection between the arts and tourism. <br /> <br />City of Roanoke Downtown Plan (Oak Street Corridor) <br />City of Roanoke <br />Gateway Planning Group team (including TXP) was retained by the City of Roanoke in order to assist <br />the city in preserving Original Town Roanoke (downtown)} in the midst of accelerated growth along <br />SH 377. Phase I of the initiative entailed assessing the existing conditions} identifying the strengths of <br />the district specifically and the community generally. This assessment supported appropriate strategies <br />to address the challenges of allowing the downtown to continue to grow as a vibrant and sustainable <br />place of destination which} while attracting increased tourist and business activity to the area, would <br />also enhance and preserve the essence of Original Town. The initial phase also identified the economic <br />viability of the market for Original Town Roanoke. This analysis was critically important for the <br />successful implementation of the plan. Phase II of the project} included the development and adoption of <br />a new regulating plan} a form-based zoning district} design guidelines and a streets cape plan. <br /> <br />A Cost/Benefit Model for San Antonio Economic Development Projects <br />City of San Antonio} Texas <br />TXP created a model and analytical structure for the City of San Antonio to better measure the relative <br />merits of tax abatements and other economic development incentives that quantifies the total effect of <br />new development in terms of both costs and benefits.
