<br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE MEET AND CONFER COMMITTEE MET THE 19TH <br />DAY OF APRIL, 2009, 200 P.M. AT COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 604 W. F AIRMONT <br />PKWY, LA PORTE, TX. <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at approximately 2: 10 <br /> <br />2. MEMBERS FROM THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE LA PORTE POLICE <br />OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (LPPOA) IN ATTENDANCE <br /> <br />Ron Bottoms, City Manager <br />John Joerns, Assistant City Manager <br />Ken Adcox, Chief of Police <br />Heather Weger, Human Resources Manager <br />Matt Novosad, Patrol Officer - LPPOA <br />Matt Daeumer, Patrol Sergeant - LPPOA <br />Sherman Moore, Patrol Officer - LPPOA <br /> <br />Audience: <br />Mike Mosteit, Phillip Hoot, Dottie Kominski, Tom Barbee <br /> <br />3. OPEN DISCUSSION RELATING TO ITEMS PREVIOUSLY INTRODUCED <br />BY POLICE ASSOCIATION AND/OR CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />a) The Association and City agreed that the wage scale would be retro <br />active as of I May2009. <br /> <br />b) The Association addressed concerns about Article 7 regarding comp <br />time. The City stated that it must be able to buyout comp time, <br />responsibly. New wording indicates that there must be a written <br />request for comp time. Both City and Association agreed on <br />wording, <br /> <br />c) The Association addressed the need to change wording for Duration <br />section, Article 9. The City and Association agreed that wording to <br />be added would be that "both parties would have to mutually agree <br />to extension" indicating that both would benefit from the extension. <br /> <br />d) The Association requested clarification on Officer Ranks, Article 2. <br />The City clarified that if you are an experienced officer then you <br />may bypass the civil service exam and enter with no seniority. <br /> <br />e) Physical Fitness pay was clarified by the city that if an officer is <br />taking a Physical Fitness test then they will be paid for that time, <br />however, training on the side to maintain physical fitness is not <br />covered under this article. <br />
