ORDINANCE NO. 780-PPP <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE POLICY OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE ' <br />CONCERNING THE- ZONING CLASSIFICATIONS UNDER THE FORMER CITY <br />OF LOMAX 'ZONING ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE. DATE' <br />HEREOF. " <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />Section 1. The former City of Lomax has heretofore been <br />consolidated with the City of LaPorte. The former City of <br />Lomax had a comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. The City of <br />La Porte has a comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. The Planning <br />and -Zoning Commission of the City of La Porte is presently <br />studying the existing City of La 'Porte Zoning Ordinance, with <br />a view 'to recommending substantial changes and revision's. <br />Section'2. Upon its consolidation with the City of <br />LaPorte, the territory of the former City of Lomax came under' <br />the coverage of the City of La Porte Zoning Ordinance, with a <br />temporary classification of "R-1 Residential."' Because of the <br />substantial number of land parcels - involved, and because of <br />the ongoing revision process on the City 'of La Porte Zoning <br />Ordinance, it would .be a duplication of effort by the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission, and an inconvenience to the property <br />owners involved, to 'have individual. hearings on all of the <br />land parcels in the territory of the former City of Lomax, <br />for a permanent zoning classification, prior to the enactment <br />of the new revised City of La Porte Zoning Ordinance. There- <br />fore, the City Council of the City of La Porte, upon the <br />recommendation of the City of La Porte Planning and Zoning <br />Commission, -hereby adopts and carries forward, the zoning <br />classifications which were in effect'on the. various parcels <br />of land in -the territory comprising the former City of Lomax, <br />and the same shall have the same zoning classifications as <br />they were classified under' the former City. of Lomax Zoning <br />Ordinance, according to •the following table, to -wit: <br />
