Mr. Herrera reported to Ms. Spencer the City has <br />reports from the Communication Technician on the switchboard that the City has been receiving, <br />in the last month, more phone calls from our citizens regarding the lack of operators at your <br />Pasadena Office and the time those citizens are having to wait to actually talk to someone. Ms. <br />Spencer said she would call the City Secretary's office tomorrow and give her other phone <br />numbers citizens can use to contact the local TCI office regarding concerns and complaints. <br /> <br />5. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISlDNG TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br /> <br />One citizen, Spero Pomonis. 218 Bay Colony, La Porte, addressed the Council on three issues, <br />TCI Cable, Traffic Humps, and the Wine and Beer for consumption ordinance. Mr. Pomonis <br />indicated he is pleased with the TCI cable service since TCI has switched to fiber optic cable. <br />He also indicated he is very pleased with the programs he receives. l~e did indicate a concern <br />for not receiving notification of the new channel line up. Mr. Pomonis said he is against having <br />traffic humps in the subdivisions in La Porte. Mr. Pomonis spoke regarding the workshop item <br />to discuss revision to the Wine and/or Beer on Premise License. Mr. Pomonis indicated he <br />believes it will be difficult for some establishments in La Porte to be able to comply with the <br />65% sale of food requirement in order to receive a license from the City to operate a business <br />where Wine and/or Beer could be served on premise. <br /> <br />Councilperson Sutherland asked Mayor Malone to allow him to report for the record that TCI <br />cable reception in the Northwest La Porte Area (Lomax) is not as good as Mr. Pomonis is <br />indicating his service might be. <br /> <br />6. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTIIER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND ACTION ASBESTOS CONTROL FOR ASBESTOS <br />ABATEMENTIDEMOLmON OF TWO BUILDINGS AT 1312 AND 1320 BAYSHORE <br />DRIVE (Ord. 97-2158) - S. Barr <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr reported the summary and recommendation <br />regarding an agreement between the City and Action Asbestos Control for $28,444.00 and a <br />projected Time of Completion for the project of seven days. Mr. Barr answered questions from <br />Council. \ <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 97-2158 - AN ORDINANCE AUmORIZING AND <br />APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN mE CITY OF LA PORTE AND ACTION <br />ASBESTOS CONTROL FOR ASBESTOS ABATEMENTIDEMOLmON OF TWO <br />BUILDINGS OWNED BY THE CITY AT 1312 BA YSHORE DRIVE AND 1320 BA YSHORE <br />DRIVE, APPROPRIATING $28,444.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO mE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN AFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF <br />
