MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 24, 1997 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, Councilpersons Mike Cooper, <br />Bob McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Guy Sutherland <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Attorney Knox Askins, <br />City Secretary Sue Lenes, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of Finance/ACM Jeff <br />Litchfield, Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Director of Planning Guy Rankin, <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Director of Parks and <br />Recreation Stephen Barr, City Manager's Secretary Carol Buttler, Assistant City Secretary <br />Rhonda Yockov, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, Chief Building Official Art <br />Flores <br />Other Present: Chris Breaux representing Null and Associates and several La Porte Citizens <br />2. INVOCATION BY FATHER TOM RAFFERTY - St. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH <br />Father Tom Rafferty of St. Mary's Catholic Church, delivered the invocation. <br />3. CONSIDER APPROVING MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 24, 1997 <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to approve the minutes of February 24. 1997. <br />as presented. Seconded by Councilperson Maxwell. Abstained by Councilperson Alton <br />Porter. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Alton Porter <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br />Spero Pomonis, 218 Bay Colony Circle, La Porte, addressed Council regarding the Board of <br />Adjustment meeting that was scheduled for Thursday February 27, 1997. Mr. Pomonis <br />expressed his feelings of contempt for the Board of Adjustment Committee members and urged <br />Council to seek the resignation of these members or dismiss these members from their <br />position. <br />5. PRESENTATIONS: <br />1996 COMPREHNSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT - J. Litchfield <br />
