CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman L. Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman L. Malone, Councilpersons <br />Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, Howard Ebow, Bob McLaughlin, Alton <br />Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager <br />Robert T. Herrera, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Assistant City Manager <br />Jeff Litchfield, City Attorney Knox Askins, Police Chief Bobby Powell, <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Planning <br />Director Guy Rankin, Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, <br />Purchasing Agent Susan Kelley, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander <br />and City Manager's Secretary Carol Buttler. <br /> <br />Others Present: Spero Pomonis, Eugene Edmonds, Mr. and Mrs. Strong, Joyce <br />Sease, Jan Lawler, Lou Lawler, Mary McLain, Ramona Gatsberry, Sgt. INVOCATION - BY REVEREND BEATRICE CHUN, CHRIST <br />LUTHERAN CHURCH <br /> <br />Reverend Chun delivered the invocation. <br /> <br />3. CONSIDER APPROVING M.lNUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 22, 1997. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Maxwell to approve the minutes of <br />September 22. 1997 as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays, and I not in Council Chambers when vote was <br />taken. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, McLaughlin, Gay, <br />Maxwell, Clarke, and Mayor Norman Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Other: Councilperson Porter not in Council Chambers when vote was taken. <br /> <br />4.
