<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING, <br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 22, 1999 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by City Attorney Knox Askins at 6:00 p.m. Mr. <br />Askins advised Council that the Mayor and Mayor Pro-tern would be absent this <br />evening. He requested a motion to elect an acting Mayor Pro-tern for this meeting. A <br />motion was made by Councilperson Peter Griffiths to elect Mr. Sutherland as Mayor <br />Pro-tern for this meeting. A second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro-tern proceeded with the meeting at 6:02 P.M. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland (Mayor Pro-tern), <br />Chuck Engelken, Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, Charlie Young, and Jerry Clarke. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Norman Malone, Deotis Gay and Alton Porter. <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Assistant City Manager Jeff Litchfield, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Assistant City Secretary <br />Janis Goulder, Administrative Secretary Je~nifer Fore, Administrative Assistant Carol <br />Buttler, Golf Course Superintendent Dennis Hlavaty, Golf Pro Alex Osmond, Fire <br />Chief Joe Sease, Police Chief Bobby Powel and Communications Tech I Amy Kethan. <br /> <br />Others Present: Craig Thompson, V.P. Op~rations Time Warner, Michael Mosteit, <br />Spero Pomonis, and Reverend Sonny Boyer'. <br /> <br />2, Reverend Sonny Boyer delivered the Invocation. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting, Public Hearing and <br />Special Called Workshop Meeting on February 8, 1999. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Griffiths to approve the minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting, Public Hearing and Special Called Workshop Meeting on February 8. 1999 as <br />presented. Second by CounciIperson Ebow. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Young, and Clarke. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None. <br /> <br />4.
