<br />Meeting was Balled to order by rtiayor Pro-tem Fred R. Ruff, in the
<br />absence of mayor Sharp, the following Aldermen being present:
<br />C.a'. Agee, P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark and Ruff.
<br />'~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
<br />The &Zayor came in to the meeting at this point.
<br />The following correspondence was read by the City Secretary:
<br />Correspond- ~~ letter from the Eureka Fire Hose Division of the United States
<br />ence Rubber Co. granting a 2~ discount on the City's bill of X260.00,
<br />letter from W.F. ~3artranft of Jersey Heights, N.J. in which he de-
<br />clined the City's offer to take up his City of La Porte Refunding
<br />warrant No. 3, in the amoytnt of .;500.00 and interest to date,
<br />a letter from Joe R. Kubena, Seo'y of the Slavonic Benevolent Or-
<br />der of the State of Texas, accepting the City's offer to take up
<br />the Order's City of La Porte Refunding warrant No. 9 with interest
<br />to date ~f payment.

<br />r~ 9 authorized to pay City of La Porte Refunding Warrant No. 9, oAned by
<br />the Slavonic Benevolent Ore~er of the State of Texas, in the amount of
<br />~ X500.00, together with interest to date of payment, as soon as this
<br />warrant has been received Prom the Slavonic Orders payment to be made
<br />from the Int. & Skg. Tarrant Fund. Carried.
<br />r.r4.F.note, The City Secretary reported that the First National Bank had been
<br /> paid $200.50, covering the note of X200.00 and interest to date of
<br />Eureka F. payment,oeved by the City, that the Bill of the Eureka Fire Hose Div.
<br />ose intize amount of X260.00 less discount oP X5.20 had been paid, that
<br /> the Bond Register ordered from Steck & Co. had been com^leted and
<br />Time delivered and that the amount of ~2,!.~00.00 from the Int.& Skg. Bond
<br />Deposit Fund had been placed on Time Deposit with the First National Bank of
<br /> La Porte, to draw 2;a interest for one year froze march 2!.x,1939, also
<br />Chattell that the Chattell n°ortgage on the Am.La France Ladder Truck had been
<br />Dltg. cancelled by the Bank and had been returned together with the Insurance
<br /> Policy on the Truck, at the tune o£ the payment of the :200.00 note,
<br /> previously mentioned.
<br />Bids h~otion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the bids on 2" pipe be held over
<br /> until the next regular Council meeting. Carried.

<br /> paid: N.A. Johnson, Apr. lst installment X10.00, Gulf Cities Nat,. Gas

<br /> all to be paid from the General Fund. Carried.
