i ~ <br />SPECIAL PEETING <br />OF TIB/ <br />LA PORTS CItY COTJNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 20,1938, 2;00 P.T. <br />Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with the following Alder- <br />men answering to roll tail: F.R.. Boyle, C.RR. Agee, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. <br />Mayor Sharp stated that the purpose of the xeeting was .+.,o consider the <br />offer of s~bttlement which Gayle Bros, have Wade in their suit against <br />the City, also the case of F.T. Baldwin against the City. <br />Gayle After some discussion a x-otion was offered by Boyle, second by Agee, <br />Bros that the City will settle their law suit with Gayle. Bros in the amount <br />of ~12,3(~j.00 of which X1,107.08 is to be paid in cash and the balance <br />financed by Bonds drawing 1.~ per any interest and payable ~p500.00 an- <br />nually, providing for an option after ten (10) years and that Gayle <br />Bros. pay the court costs. The motion was unanimously carried. <br />Phillips Motion by Boyle, second by Roark, that J.R. Phillips Investment Co. be <br />Tnv. empl~ted to handle the issuance of the Bonds in settlement of Gayle <br />Bros. c3aim.s against the City for a fee of X125.00. Carried. <br />Baldwih Notion by Ruff, second by Agee, that City Attorney Kiibler be instructed <br />suit to notify W.b?. Streetman that it is t~,e Cty-Councilts understanding that <br />he is representing the City of La Porte in the F.T. Baldwin law suit and <br />that the Council expects hin to continue to represent the City in the case, <br />also that he has the full cooperation of the City Council and staff in <br />preparing the defense in the case.
