RESOLUTION NO. 2013-� <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />OPPOSING ANY LEGISLATION THAT INCREASES THE MAXIMUM TRANSPORT <br />HAUL WEIGHTS OVER ROADWAYS IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TO INCLUDE <br />HEAVY HAUL CORRIDOR(S); FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />WHEREAS, legislation may be proposed in the 2013 Texas Legislative Session to allow <br />trucks to increase their maximum transport haul weight to greater than 80,000 pounds along <br />certain roadways within the City of La Porte; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte is concerned about the safety of our citizens as a result <br />of increasing maximum transport haul weights; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte is concerned about the effects to the transportation <br />infrastructure from any additional maximum transport haul weights. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />Section 1. The City of La Porte opposes any legislation that would increase the maximum <br />transport haul weights for trucks within the City of La Porte, including Heavy Haul Corridors. <br />Section 2. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a sufficient <br />written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council is posted at <br />a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law <br />preceding this meeting, as required by Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this <br />meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution <br />and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The <br />City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and <br />posting thereof. <br />Section 3.
