Proposition Eight: <br />Shall Section 2.03 of the La Porte Charter be amended to provide that <br />the date for holding the annual regular election for city council <br />members, and the date for holding special elections, be established <br />in accordance with state law? <br />For <br />Against <br />Proposition Nine: <br />Shall Section 2.04 of the La Porte Charter be amended to provide that <br />when the mayor or a councilperson announces their candidacy for <br />another elected office, such announcement shall constitute an <br />automatic resignation if the unexpired term of their city office <br />shall exceed one year and thirty days, in place of the current minimum <br />of one year, to conform to the Texas Constitution? <br />For <br />Against <br />Proposition Ten: <br />Shall Section 2.04 of the La Porte Charter be amended to simplify <br />the process of holding city elections, by clarifying that <br />applications for candidate positions be filed in accordance with <br />state law, by repealing requirements that candidates for mayor and <br />council positions pay a filing fee, and by establishing that official <br />ballots be prepared and election returns canvassed in accordance with <br />state law? <br />For <br />Against <br />Proposition Eleven: <br />Shall Section 2.05 of the La Porte Charter be amended to increase <br />the maximum annual compensation of the mayor to $4,800.00 from <br />$2,400.00, and to increase the maximum annual compensation of <br />councilpersons to $2,400.00 from $1,200.00. <br />
