Council received a report regarding a joint venture between <br />the City and Hickham Industries to pave Old La Porte Road. <br />Mr. Don Babbs was present to receive the City's thanks and <br />appreciation of the major part Hickham Industries had in this <br />project. <br /> <br />7. Council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 25, Article <br />2, section 25-23 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La <br />Porte, for the purpose of designating a twenty mile per hour <br />maximum speed limit on a portion of Myrtle Creek Drive. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1466-B - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE 2, SECTION 25-23 OF THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />DESIGNATING A TWENTY (20) MILE PER HOUR MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT <br />ON MYRTLE CREEK DRIVE, FROM CANYON SPRINGS DRIVE TO WILLOW <br />CREEK DRIVE WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING THAT ANY <br />PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED <br />GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN <br />A SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bY Counciloerson Coooer to adoot Ordinance <br />1466-B as read by the city Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, McLaughlin, Porter, <br />Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />At this time, Council adjourned into executive session at 6:30 <br />P.M. to address item C on the executive session agenda: Meet <br />with Attorney to discuss law suit with Southern Ionics, Inc. <br />(HCS). Council returned to the Council table at 7:08 P.M. <br />
