• • <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />April 13, 1992, Page 2 <br />The following citizens addressed Council: Bill Bentley, who <br />is concerned about firearms being found in schools. He asked <br />Council to consider passing some kind of ordinance which would <br />make parents financially responsible for damages when their <br />children are caught with firearms. <br />Chuck Engelken addressed Council as a representative of the <br />Brookglen Home Owners Association, asking for help in getting <br />various stop signs, flooding problems, control of wild dogs <br />and asking for more frequent police patrols. <br />Rick Cotton was scheduled to address Council, but did not <br />appear. <br />7. Council considered an ordinance authorizing purchase of <br />certain parcels of land in Fairmont park subdivision, to be <br />dedicated for use as public park property. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1832 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN PARCELS OF LAND IN THE <br />FAIRMONT PARK SUBDIVISION, TO BE DEDICATED FOR USE AS PUBLIC <br />PARK PROPERTY OF THE CIT OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to adopt Ordinance <br />1832 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays (Councilpersons <br />Porter and Gay had not yet arrived). <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance authorizing the Airport <br />Manager to execute a lease with the U.S. Government for <br />installation of a clearance delivery system. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1833 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE AND THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />I~otiQn was made by Councilperson Sutherland to adopt Ordinance <br />1833 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Skelton. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays <br />(Councilpersons Porter and Gay had not yet arrived). <br />
