ORDINANCE NO. 2013 - <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO SERVE AS <br />MAYOR PRO -TEM OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE PERIOD <br />JUNE 1, 2013, THROUGH MAY 31, 2014; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby appoints <br />to serve as Mayor Pro -Tem of the City of La Porte, for the <br />L' <br />period June 1, 2013, through May 31, 2014, or until a successor shall have been duly <br />appointed and qualified. <br />Section 2. The Mayor Pro -Tem shall serve in such office during said term, and <br />pursuant to the Charter of the City of La Porte shall during the vacancy, absence or <br />incapacity of the Mayor do all things, perform all duties, and in fact have all the powers <br />and duties of the Mayor of the City of La Porte during such vacancy, absence or <br />incapacity of the Mayor. The Mayor Pro -Tem shall act as Mayor until a successor is <br />elected and has qualified or until the Mayor is again able to assume his duties of office, <br />as the case may be. <br />Section 3. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares <br />that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the <br />City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City <br />for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings <br />Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to <br />the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject <br />matter thereof has been discussed considered and formally acted upon.
