Proposition Twe=-seven: <br />Shall Sections 6.01, 6.02, 6.03, 6.05, 6.08 and 8.06 of the La Porte Charter be amended to replace references to the terms <br />"electors" and "qualified electors" with the term "qualified voters"? <br />_278_ For 41 Against <br />Proposition !!yn -eight: <br />Shall Section 8.02 of the La Porte Charter be amended by repealing outdated wording related to the taking of oaths of office <br />and instead provide that all elected and appointed officers of the City shall take the oath as provided in the Constitution of the <br />State of Texas? <br />_280_ For 37 Against <br />Proposition_ Twenty-nine: <br />Shall Section 8.02 of the La Porte Charter be amended by repealing outdated wording concerning employee pension plans? <br />_273_ For 47 Against <br />Proposition Thirty: <br />Shall Section 8.06 of the La Porte Charter be amended by requiring that the La Porte City Charter be subject to a mandatory <br />review every 10 years, and by eliminating procedures for holding elections on proposed charter amendments and replacing <br />with applicable state law? <br />272 For 49 Against <br />WHEREAS, because the votes cast for each of the above propositions exceeded the votes cast <br />against the same, the City Council, pursuant to its election Order and Section 9.005 of the Texas Local <br />Government Code, by this Ordinance enters its Order in the records of the City of La Porte declaring such <br />Charter amendments adopted; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE: <br />Section 1. That the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby finds that the <br />above -referenced recitals are true and correct. <br />Section 2. That said election was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that <br />said election was held in the manner required by law; that due returns of said election have been made by <br />the proper officers; that said returns have been canvassed by the City Council of the City of La Porte; that <br />said election has resulted in the passage of all thirty (30) amendments to the Horne Rule Charter of the City <br />of LaPorte, Texas. <br />Section 3. That the City of Council of the City of La Porte, based upon the results of the Charter <br />amendment election held on May 11, 2013, hereby enters an order in the records of the City of La Porte <br />declaring that the Charter Amendments enumerated hereinbelow in Sections 4 through 25 are adopted. <br />5 <br />
